In Goa, the Catholic diocesan priests typically retire around age 70 to 75 and move into a dedicated clergy retirement home. This brings in many challenges, a major one being, shifting from active ministry work to minimal activities within the retirement home. Besides, they have to deal with ageing and other related illnesses. But the hardest part is often the feeling of being forgotten by the very communities they spent a lifetime building. They long for someone to visit them and talk to them. Recognizing this profound need, the Crusaders have stepped forward to visit these retired priests regularly, offering them comfort and solace.
Around 14 Crusaders from the North Zone visited the Clergy Home in Porvorim and had a truly enriching experience with the elderly priests. They spent meaningful time singing with them, listening to their life experiences, and helping revive cherished memories of bygone years.
